MADE POSSIBLE WITH LOOP
By the very nature of the work we produce, large format printing is often wasteful.
We’re proud of LOOP, a giant breakthrough in sustainability, Imaginators series of collaborative, strategic and considered environmental initiatives designed to seamlessly blend sustainability into our projects, to help reduce large format print waste across the industries we work within, specifically live events, music festivals, sport, entertainment and film and television.
We know that change needs to happen within our sector. We are promoting what is possible rather than handing over responsibility to our clients.
Whether you’re an agency, brand or organiser, when using LOOP, you can confidently reach your sustainability goals using a proven range of environmentally friendly print materials and a viable method of recycling large format print waste using innovative waste streams.
We aim to drive behavioural change by helping brands reduce, recycle and reimagine sustainability creating an impact on our clients and not our planet.
Whether you are exploring sustainability for the first time or navigating transformation across your organisation, LOOP can assist you with your journey.
This guide highlights the initiatives which form LOOP. We very much look forward to sharing our journey with you, including our research, knowledge, learnings and experience. Join us on our journey to make a real difference.
The journey so far
Making large format print more sustainable will be one of the most ambitious transformations we have ever undertaken. Imaginators have already begun to explore the challenges and formed collaborations with pioneering industry specialists to provide recommended solutions that will help protect the environment and meet the expectations of our clients already on their ESG journey.

Imaginators are focused on putting sustainability at the forefront of everything we do. We aim to bring change and lead the way in offering branding solutions which reduce the environmental impact of our work.
In addition to providing an extensive and growing range of environmentally friendly often recycled flexible and rigid print materials, Imaginators has created an innovative approach to recycling all large format print waste including PVC.
With 100% landfill avoidance, LOOP, in partnership with our recycling partners, we have developed a system that enables virtually all media we use to be completely recycled, keeping PVC and other harmful materials out of landfill.
How is Imaginators playing its part?
LOOP offers an innovative solution to sustainability and recycling, is easy to administrate and effective in its results. It enables Imaginators to demonstrate our responsibility to managing print waste effectively for our clients with a traceable and low carbon footprint solution to disposing of large format printed graphics during both the manufacturing process and post event.

We recognise that our industry will achieve more by working in close collaboration with partners, suppliers, clients and competitors. It requires a long-term commitment to minimise the impact of our products. Imaginators is using our position of leadership within larger format printing to pursue a policy of continuous improvement and are committed to make a positive contribution to support our goals and those of our clients.
Sustainable solutions
For many large format print applications, PVC banner material still offers the best solution. It’s cost effective, durable and delivers attractive results, however it doesn’t degrade in landfill and has for many years presented a significant challenge for recycling. Imaginators have developed a unique process that enables the core PVC material and base layer to pass through a two-stage shredding process enabling them to then be reused in several other applications both in and outside of our industry.

With remanufacturing partners based solely in the UK, the carbon footprint for transporting processed waste material around is minimised as well. Imaginators are registered with the Environment Agency to transport waste.

For clients committed to reducing waste, Imaginators offer the service of collecting all recyclable materials from your site post event.
Materials are then efficiently segregated into common materials which can then be recycled.
Segregated materials are then baled ready for processing by our recycling partners.
We use a variety of partners for different materials. It’s important to combine flexibility with minimising our shared carbon footprint when collecting and transporting the waste material.
The baled materials are then feed into a semi-automated conveyor line for batch processing.
A unique 3-way industrial shredding technology, developed specifically for this application, is used to form a perfectly formed blended recycled material. This is then re-baled for recycling and repurposing.
Finally, the shredded and processed material is given a viable future used in a range of industries including traffic cone bases.

CONTINUING OUR PROGRESS. CONTINUING CHANGE.
We recognise that change starts with us. So, we have brought together some goals for our business over the coming years. With these strategic actions, we are determined to lead the way in providing sustainable large format print solutions using LOOP.
Imaginators has been collecting data on our Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2021. We have specific in-house developing knowledge and dedicated resources to capture data and have begun to commit more full-time investment into a coordinated approach to capturing, measuring and reporting essential data.
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT AND TARGETS
Alongside research and development to advance the use of new and emerging sustainable and recyclable large format print materials, we shall be expanding new waste streams and expanding our knowledge of emerging clean air coatings. We aim to continually reduce the environmental impact of our operations and pursue necessary accreditation that challenges us to improve our services and working practices.
OUR CLIENT FIRST COMMITMENT
We shall continue to think differently to create solutions that help clients achieve their sustainability goals. We shall extend our own internal sustainability and environmental literacy levels, as well as empowering and upskilling our teams, to further integrate sustainability principles into our business and our clients projects.
EDUCATION & IMPACT
Working with ISLA, we provide workshops to our employees, internal teams including senior leaders to provide insight. Our teams have begun a continuous training programme to help us on our journey in tackling the sustainability challenges across our industry. With in-depth exploration of sustainability concepts and principles, we gain clear actionable insight. We are open and transparent in sharing our knowledge and insight with our clients.
We shall accelerate and communicate positive change across our business and industry and actively engage with clients, our supply chain and environmental organisations to develop partnerships to further our knowledge and experience of sustainability and the environment.
